The Story

I'm an avid lap swimmer and traveler. My favorite thing in the world is to stay at a hotel with a pool big enough to swim laps in; there's no better feeling than strolling out of a hotel room in a t-shirt and Speedo and heading down to a pool for a few laps.

At the beginning of quarantine, I desperately missed my two favorite activities, and became obsessed with finding as many hotels with lap pools as I could. I spent months researching on TripAdvisor, SwimmersGuide, and Google Maps to assemble a database of over 450 hotels on seven continents. (Sorry, Antartica.)

Though this search was originally meant to satisfy my own curiosity -- and plan for post-Covid travel -- I realized that there were many other swimmers out there who might benefit from such a guide. I created Swim Hotels in March 2021 to share my knowledge with the world.
